The African American Historical Society of Alaska was formed to educate the community on African American history through our Juneteenth Celebration. We have added facts on other minority history and facts in recent years.
Our goal is to bring to our community the facts that are not taught everyday about minorities and thereby create more understanding of other cultures. We also help out other non-profit organizations and hold special events on the noted African American holidays.
In 2008, we became an affiliate of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation and you can learn more about them by going to www.njof.com.
Click the VIEW ALL ITEMS link at the bottom of the page to see all selections.
We specialize in:
• Slavery and the history of Juneteenth
• Martin Luther King Jr
• Teaching tolerance to our youth
• African Americans and the Alcan Highway
• Million Father March
• Various youth events and activities
